Worst memories on the road/Mes pires souvenirs de voyages
Although most of my trips are overall amazing and I'm not the kind of person to focus on bad things.
I'm not writing this article about my worst memories on the road to scare you (especially if you are planning your first solo adventure). Actually, most of the things I'm writing here make me smile when I look back at it. Some of those places are some of my favourite places to travel and those bad adventures don't change what I loved about those cities by any mean.
La plupart de mes voyages sont fabuleux mais il m'est aussi arrivé des trucs un peu moins cool. Je n'écris pas cet article dans le but de vous effrayer (surtout si c'est votre premier voyage solo).
Ces destinations sont toujours des endroits que j'adore malgré tout mais c'est l'occasion pour moi de vous montrer un autre aspect du voyage que les photos instagram ne montrent pas forcément.
1)Couchsurfing
Okay, I did not couch surf at this place, but when I was looking for a couchsurfer in Rome, some Italian dude asked me if I cared about him walking naked and smoking weed in his flat (and added that he hoped that I would do the same thing).
My reaction to that: Yes, I cared about having a complete stranger walking naked when I am a vulnerable solo female traveler. I simply blocked him and left a review on his couchsurfing account in case other girls ask for a couch.
Je n'ai pas fait du couchsurfing chez ce jeune homme, mais quand je cherchais un couchsurfeur pour Rome, je suis tombée sur un italien qui voulait bien m'héberger mais par contre il disait qu'il aimait se balader à poil chez lui ainsi que fumer et qu'il espérait que j'étais partante pour faire la même chose.
Ma réaction: Il fait ce qu'il veut chez lui, mais en tant que voyageuse solo ça me rassure pas de me retrouver dans ce genre de situation.Je l'ai bloqué et ai laissé un commentaire sur son compte couchsurfing au cas où certaines filles passaient par là.

2)Milan
I embarked on my flight to Milan with a black backpack carry-on just like many other travelers. Unfortunately that day, someone moved my carry-on around so when I left the plane, I took someone else' s bag.
My reaction to that: I went to the lost and found office at the airport and they found my bag. I had to wait for an hour at the airport but everything went smoothly.
Quand je partais à Milan je voyageais avec un bagage à main noir comme beaucoup de gens me direz-vous. Sauf que sans m'en rendre compte, quelqu'un avait changé mon sac de place, ce qui fait qu'en descendant, j'ai pris le sac de quelqu'un d'autre.
Ma réaction: Je suis allée au lost & foun et ils sont fini par retrouver mon sac.J'ai juste perdu une heure mais sinon pas de panique.
3)Berlin
It was during the New Year Eve in Berlin. Some dude stole my phone. This asshole downloaded a video of him with my phone on the streets of Berlin on my Facebook account a few weeks later.
My reaction to that: I kept on enjoying my NYE and bought a new phone when I went back home.
Pendant mon nouvel an à Berlin, un mec m'a volé mon téléphone... Ce con a ensuite téléchargé une vidéo de lui dans les rues de Berlin pour la poster sur mon compte Facebook.
Ma réaction: J'ai continué de m'amuser dans les rues de Berlin et j'ai racheté un téléphone plus tard.
4)Budapest
I landed in the evening in Budapest so arriving at my hostel at 11pm and having to make my bed was not pleasant at all. (The hostels where I stayed before made the beds).Moreover, the dorm was a complete mess.
My reaction to that: I made my bed and slept.The next day the staff cleaned the room.
Je suis arrivée à mon auberge à Budapest vers 23h et quand j'ai vu que je devais faire mon lit à cette heure là, ça m'a moyennement plu (+ le bordel qu'il y avait dans le dortoir).
Ma réaction. J'ai fait mon lit et le lendemain le ménage a été fait. Pas mort d'hommes donc.

5) Budapest (again)
I was sleeping on a metalic bunk bed and in the middle of the night, the bed started to shake. I first thought that it was a joke but a couple underneath my bed thought that it was appropriate to hook up where there were 10 other people in the same room and my bed above them (!!!!) The next morning they left the condom package on the floor.
My reaction to that: Well,I know it's a part of the adventure but seriously that was gross and rude. I tried to sleep as much as I could and told myself that I would book a female dorm next time.
Encore à Budapest: Je dormais sur un lit superposé en métal et en plein milieu de la nuit je sens mon lit bouger à un rythme régulier. Je croyais d'abord que c'était une blague mais non, un couple avait décidé que ça se faisait de reproduire dans une pièce où y a 10 autres personnes qui essaient de dormir (et moi au-dessus!). Le lendemain, ils ont laissé l'emballage de la capote par terre. Super classe...
Ma réaction: Bon, ça fait parti de l'aventure mais bon. Je me suis promis d'aller dans des dortoirs eclusivement féminins la prochaine fois.
6)Lisbon
The hostel where I stayed in Lisbon was absolutely lovely. The only problem was the bathroom: the doors were transparent.
My reaction to that: I was checking that no one was in the bathroom whenever I wanted to shower and made my showers really short.
Mon auberge à Lisbonne était super chouette. Le seul problème c'était les douches transparentes!
Ma réaction: Avant de me doucher, je vérifiais qu'il n'y avait personne dans la salle de bains et je faisais vite, très vite.
7)Barcelona
Someone stole the little cash I had at my hostel when I went in the bathroom.
My reaction to that: I was really pissed. Seriously if this happens where you are supposed to sleep who can you trust ?! I tried to get over it. It occured during my last day thankfully.
On m'a volé de l'argent à Barcelone dans mon auberge de jeunesse quand j'étais sous la douche. Franchement j'étais dég!
Ma réaction: toujours dégoûtée, j'ai prevenu le staff de l'auberge. Y avait pas grand chose à faire de toute façon.

8) Cape Town
This was during my first stay where I was staying with 13 other people. There were always someone to steal your food,your Nutella and your wine (how rude!)
My reaction to that: I started to put everything in my room and eating out more frequently.
Bon ça c'était pendant mon premier séjour où on séjournait à 14 dans une maison. Y avait toujours quelqu'un pour me voler ma bouffe, mon nutella et mon vin. Une fois ca va mais quand tu commences à faire tes courses pour les autres ça va deux minutes.
Ma réaction: j'ai commencé à faire moins de grosses courses ou sinon, je mettais ça dans ma chambre.
