Cheap things to do in Monaco/Decouvrir Monaco avec un petit budget

I visited Monaco back in February, and it was everything and more. It is relatively mild in winter and not excessively hot during summer.

Monaco is a magnificient place, known for being luxurious and expensive. However, I have managed to visit this place without breaking the bank, so I'll be sharing my personal tips and tricks with you today.

J'ai visité Monaco en février dernier et c'était grandiose. Les hivers y sont doux et les étés agréables. Ce micro-Etat est connu pour être luxueux et hors de prix mais je partage mes bons plans avec vous aujourd'hui !

1.Where to stay /Où dormir ?
I landed in Nice Airport which is the closest airport to Monaco with Transavia Airlines. You can have interesting deals on Expedia (especially during the low season).
I have been staying in Nice as it was cheaper (and beautiful too!). The deal I got with Expedia included a few nights in a 3 star hotel near the central station.

J'ai atterri à l'aéroport de Nice (qui est l'aéroport le plus proche de Monaco). Vous pouvez regarder les bons plans sur le site d'Expedia. J'y ai trouvé un forfait vol+logement dans un hôtel 3 étoiles pour pas grand chose (Je dois avouer que voyager en basse saison a surement beaucoup aidé).

2. How to visit Monaco/Comment se rendre à Monaco

From Nice, Monaco is only 24 km away. I went on a daytrip to Monaco by taking the train. It is a 22 minute journey and you will pay €3.90 if you take the train and €1.50 if you opt for the bus 100 (Nice-Monaco-Menton).
The bus runs every 15 minutes and the trip lasts 30-45mins. It takes a scenic route along the coast, passing through seaside towns such as Villefranche and Beaulieu.

You can also rent a car and have a small roadtrip along the coast. As the seaside view from Nice coastline is a killer, traveling by car would enable you to stop wherever you want.

Nice se trouve à 24 km de Monaco. Je me suis fait une petite excursion d'une journée en prenant le train (3,60€). Ceci-dit, vous pouvez aussi prendre le bus numéro 100 (Nice-Monaco-Menton).

Louez une voiture si vous voulez vous arrêter quand vous voulez. Il y a des coins vraiment somptueux.

3.Things to do in Monaco/choses à faire à Monaco

Visit Monte Carlo Casino: The legendary Monte Carlo Casino is the must-see site of Monaco. There is no entrance fee to the casino unless you want to gamble.

Go to Cafe de Paris/Prenez un café au Cafe de Paris:

I went for a relaxing afternoon coffee at the Café de Paris. The price range here for beverages is quite okay for a place with a million dollar view (around 3 to 4 euro for a cup of coffee and juicy beverages) . Eating there is quite expensive so you better go to the nearest Carrefour supermarket and make yourself your own sandwich.

Les prix y sont raisonnables selon moi pour un endroit avec une vue pareil (comptez environ 3-4€ pour un café ou un jus de fruits). Par contre, les plats y sont chers donc filez au Carrefour d'à coté pour faire vos propres courses.

Go to the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco/Visitez le musée Oceanographique

This is one of the best spots in Monaco. You can see the cliffed coast while enjoying sea fruit and learn new things at the same time. The exclusive pass to the museum and the castle are quite enjoyable as well. The rooftop of the museum is well equipped with a cafe but you can always go there for a breathtaking view.

C'est un must! Vous pouvez observer les falaises et manger des fruits de mer. Vous pouvez prendre un pass tout inclus qui vous donnera un accès au château. Le rooftop du musée a un café offrant une vue surprenante.

Go sightseeing/Allez vous balader :

Monaco is a beautiful place to wander around. There are a fair share of buildings to admire without spending a penny (as long as you don't want to visit the inside). Don't miss the Palace where Grace Kelly used to live and the Monaco cathedral.

Je ne peux pas penser à un endroit plus somptueux pour me balader. Vous avez pas mal de monuments à voir (qui sont gratuits tant que vous restez à l'extérieur). Ne manquez pas le palace où Audrey Hepburn a vécu ainsi que la cathédrale de Monaco.
